Newcomers Yearning for Opportunities, Kindness & Inclusion
The NYOKI Foundation was born out of a deep personal journey and a strong sense of purpose, inspired by the struggles and triumphs of immigrant children navigating life in a new country. The Founder, Nyoki G. Jones, once an immigrant child herself, faced many challenges while adjusting to life in the United States. From learning a new language to adapting to a different culture, she understood firsthand the emotional and educational hurdles that often stood in the way of success. But through faith and determination, she discovered that her path was guided by a higher calling, rooted in the promise of
Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
This verse became the foundation of her vision for NYOKI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing immigrant children with the same opportunities and hope for a brighter future. Jones believes that every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to the resources, education, and support that will help them thrive in their new home. NYOKI was created to fulfill that mission, offering scholarships, mentorship, and community programs to uplift and empower immigrant children, just as Ms. Jones was once uplifted herself.

"America was the best and worst thing that happened to my family. It forced us to go through even more lost in order to experience what it's like to be found. The NYOKI Foundation gave me a space to be myself and become the woman I am called to be despite of my journey to get there."
